Another day, another photo op.

Here’s my next trial photo…my favorite fast dessert…Nillas ‘n Cream. This is a true Hick creation born of trying to find a dessert that would satisfy my sweet tooth but not be heavily laden with calories.

I hadn’t really planned to take this photo, but after I made this little snack, I thought I would get in the practice. I noted that the whipped cream is not perfect and two of the wafers look like I have already nibbled on them. But, overall, I am pleased with the picture and the cookies were tasty, too.

But the magazine that's offering the photo contest is kind of hoity-toity and probably wouldn't use two such ordinary ingredients unless you add something exotic like fig compote or mascarpone or something else that can't be found in the grocery stores around here. It's obvious to me that a marschino cherry would make a nice Hick-type topping, but that's only on a day that I feel like blowing my diet.

I’ll keep trying. I’m going to the store today (grocery store shopping day…hazaah!) and I’ll see what I can find there to photograph. I wish I could take my camera into the store, but I don’t think they would take too kindly to some strange woman taking a bunch of photographs of their foodstuff. Although, since I’m taking my kids with me I could get them to create some sort of distraction (of which they are experts) and snap away when the store people aren’t looking.

NOTE FROM THE MANAGEMENT: Hick is still not going to tell you the name of the magazine that is running the contest because sometimes people like Rurality and Florida Cracker and Rachel hang around here and they have been known to post some great food photos on their blogs. They might get the idea to enter the contest and I'm afraid Hick would be doomed. We won't even mention MJ because he could probably photograph anything and it would win prizes.
